Senior Human Resources Specialist

Accentuate Staffing is currently recruiting for a Senior Human Resources Specialist to support various HR functions, including leave programs, compensation, and employee relations. This position will collaborate with employees and leadership across all levels of the organization, ensuring effective support for the HR department’s initiatives while successfully achieving goals and completing assigned tasks with excellence.

This position is 100% remote but the employee must reside in NC, SC, VA, GA, or FL.

Responsibilities:

Leave Administration

  • Act as the primary liaison between the company, the third-party leave administrator, UNUM, and the employee to manage and process short-term and long-term disability claims with insurance providers. Collaborates with Payroll to ensure coordination of PTO, disability, and FMLA and appropriate payment of wages.
  • Assists with questions, issues, and direction regarding the leave process, ensuring timely and accurate documentation and communication with employees and managers.
  • Creates and maintains reports on all leave data.
  • Conduct regular audits of leave records to ensure accuracy and compliance.

 

Employee Relations

  • Conduct thorough investigations into allegations of harassment, discrimination, sexual harassment, whistle-blower complaints, retaliation, compliance violations, and other workplace concerns.
  • Offer expert guidance on company policies, procedures, and employment laws, ensuring strict compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of employee relations issues and resolutions.
  • Conduct exit interviews and analyze feedback to identify areas for improvement.
  • Prepare detailed reports on employee relations activities, turnover rates, and workplace trends, providing actionable insights to reduce attrition and enhance employee morale.
  • Develop and recommend targeted training programs for management and employees based on findings from workplace investigations, focusing on areas such as communication, conflict resolution, diversity and inclusion, compliance, and workplace behavior.
  • Completes all other duties as assigned.

Compensation

  • Assist in implementing and managing employee compensation programs, including salary structures, incentive plans, and benefits packages.
  • Collect and analyze market data to ensure the organization’s compensation strategies remain competitive.
  • Collaborate with HR and management to assess job descriptions and determine appropriate salary and classifications.
  • Update and maintain employee compensation records to ensure accuracy and policy compliance.
  • Monitor adherence to federal, state, and local wage and hour laws and company policies.
  • Support the HR and finance teams in developing and monitoring salary budgets.
  • Respond to employee questions regarding compensation, benefits, and pay adjustments.
  • Work with HR leadership to develop recommendations for compensation adjustments based on market trends and organizational goals.
  • Prepare detailed reports on compensation data, trends, and analysis for management review.
  • Maintains position description electronic files in an organized and functional manner.
  • Assists with updating and creating new positions in the ADP system.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or equivalent Human Resource management experience required
  • Three plus years’ experience working in various HR roles with increasingly progressive levels of responsibility required
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP preferred.
  • Proven work experience as an HR Specialist
  • In-depth knowledge of compliance requirements and federal/state regulations, including COBRA, ERISA, FMLA, ADA, Workers’ Compensation, Medicare, and Social Security.
  • Exceptional adaptability, reliability, and attention to detail in all tasks and responsibilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, with strong technical skills to analyze and manage data effectively.
  • Proven ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Solid understanding of EEOC rules and regulations to ensure compliance and promote equitable workplace practices.
  • Strong working knowledge of FMLA regulations, with the ability to manage related processes efficiently.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive company and employee information with the utmost confidentiality and discretion.
