Accentuate Staffing is recruiting for a Senior FPGA Engineer at a growing high tech company in Raleigh, NC.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead new sensor integration projects, including FPGA control of 2D CMOS and CCD imaging sensors
  • Have the courage to spot problems and overhaul legacy designs as needed.
  • Be the assigned lead engineer on development and sustainment projects, responsible for bringing customer inspired technical solutions to fruition.
  • Use your wit, creativity and knowledge to drive projects to completion and have fun doing it.
  • Interface with multi-disciplinary teams and communicate well with technical experts in optics, mechanical design, software development and volume manufacturing.
  • Document the journey effectively, and preferably with flair.

Requirements:

Required Experience

  • FPGA development using (Xilinx preferred) using VHDL or Verilog
  • LVDS signaling (SERDES preferred)
  • Comfortable creating well partitioned hierarchical designs using multiple asynchronous clock domains
  • Writes and executes detailed and representative test benches
  • Good knowledge and experience of techniques for meeting timing closure with tight constraints
  • Internal (board-level) communication protocols (SPI, I2C etc)
  • Experience using engineering processes & procedures. If you show us how to improve them, even better!
  • Full lifecycle design (concept, feasibility, design, test, transfer to manufacture: DFM)

Optional / Preferred Experience

Additional experience in any of the following would be a plus, or simply interest in learning more about these topics and growing your skillset as an engineer.

  • Microcontroller firmware using C
  • PCB design with schematic capture and board layout (multi-layer SMT, Altium preferred)
  • PCB drawing creation (layer stackups, dimensioning, BOM scrubbing)
  • Signal integrity analysis and simulation (SPICE), analog and digital differential
  • Power management (DC-DC converters, battery chargers, gas gauges)
  • Board bring up, bench testing and troubleshooting. We hope you’ve used some pretty cool lab instruments, scopes and the like and we’d like to hear about them
  • PID control-loops for thermoelectric coolers (TEC) and light source control
  • External communication protocols (USB, BLE, ethernet etc)
  • Some programming experience is a plus (any of Python, C#, MATLAB, R, LabVIEW etc)

Education / Skills

  • Natural curiosity and a strong desire to pursue a career that effects positive change in the world.
  • BS/MS or higher in Electrical Engineering or relevant fields.
  • Strong communication skills and positive attitude to work with engineering, manufacturing, and business teams towards success of products.
  • Strong organizational skills and capability of performing necessary written documentation.
  • Self-motivated to work on multiple development projects simultaneously.
