Accentuate Staffing is currently recruiting for a skilled Payroll Assistant for a client in Durham, NC. As a Payroll Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll for their organization. This position reports directly to the Payroll Manager and works within the Payroll Department, which falls under the Finance division. The ideal candidate will have prior experience with ADP payroll software, be computer-savvy, and possess strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Process biweekly payroll accurately and in compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Utilize ADP software to manage payroll functions, including data entry, updating employee records, and generating payroll reports.
  • Prepare and distribute paychecks or direct deposit statements to employees on a timely basis.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll-related matters, such as tax withholding, deductions, and timekeeping.
  • Assist with the preparation and filing of payroll tax returns and other compliance-related documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records of employee attendance, leave balances, and deductions.
  • Collaborate with HR and other departments to ensure accurate employee data for payroll processing.
  • Handle all payroll-related documentation, such as W-4 forms, wage garnishments, and employment verifications.
  • Stay up to date with changes in payroll regulations and employment laws to ensure compliance.
  • Assist with year-end payroll processes, including the issuance of W-2 forms.

Requirements:

  • Associate Degree is preferred
  • Previous experience working with ADP payroll software is required
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including uploading and downloading documents.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to handle a high volume of payroll data accurately.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines.
  • Familiarity with multi-state payroll processes and regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with employees and respond to inquiries.
  • Knowledge of payroll tax regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of employee information.
  • Prior experience with biweekly payroll processing is preferred.
  • Familiarity with seasonal payroll fluctuations and ability to handle payroll for a large employee base (300 FT employees, with seasonal ramp-up to 5,000 employees nationwide).
