Electrical Controls Technician
Accentuate Staffing is assisting a leading manufacturer in the Durham area who is hiring an Electrical Controls Technician to join their team. This is a direct hire opportunity, offering excellent benefits, working day shift.
Responsibilities:
- Perform electrical maintenance to proactively identify potential equipment issues and take preventive actions based on operator feedback and machine status
- Improve maintenance processes through Root Cause Analysis and preventive troubleshooting
- Work closely with mechanical, process, and reliability teams to align maintenance efforts with operational goals in a designated plant area
- Maintain and enhance sensor data and control systems for ISO/TS quality management, ensuring key monitoring functions are optimized
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of electrical systems, such as PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, power distribution, and variable frequency drives
- Assist with the design, installation, and maintenance of equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards
- Evaluate and enhance the performance of equipment safety systems to meet ISO standards
- Read and update electrical diagrams and drawings as needed for task execution
- Oversee and support contract personnel to ensure safe and high-quality work
- Maintain excellent workmanship and cleanliness, contributing to a clean and organized work environment
- Participate in rotating on-call duties to provide electrical expertise to shift technicians
Requirements:
- At least 2-3 years of experience in electrical maintenance within an industrial setting; experience with extrusion, plastics, or web handling is a plus
- Must have experience with PLC, HMI, and VFD systems
- Must be skilled in interpreting and modifying PLC Ladder Logic, Function Block Diagrams, and Statement Lists
- Associate’s degree in Industrial Systems, Electrical/Electronics Technology, or a related field preferred
- Certifications in Electrical Systems, PLCs, Hydraulics, Pneumatics, or Industrial Maintenance a plus
