Civil/Geotechnical Designer
Accentuate Staffing is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Geotechnical CAD Technician/ designer to join our client team. As a vital member of the organization, you will play a crucial role in preparing NCDOT geotechnical deliverables and supporting our clients engineering and geology professionals. The ideal candidate is proficient in Microstation design, possesses a strong background in CAD, and is committed to maintaining high-quality standards in geotechnical documentation.
Responsibilities:
- Work with provided base files and roadway/structure/hydraulics design files to prepare NCDOT geotechnical deliverables, including plan sheets, profiles, cross sections, and design details.
- Utilize NCDOT Microstation workspace to extract and plot boring data.
- Compile Geotechnical Reports in NCDOT format with input from Project Manager/Engineer.
- Independently review and make corrections to draft reports, ensuring document completeness.
- Perform quality control on documents prepared by others.
- Utilize software such as gINT (borehole logging software), Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel to prepare geotechnical data presentations and report components.
- Collaborate with Engineers and Geologists by providing geometric inputs for engineering analyses, such as typical slope sections and stratigraphy.
- Assist in the preparation of design details, retaining wall plans, and other engineering documents.
- Support field activities as needed, including site reconnaissance, utility coordination, borehole stakeout using handheld GPS and surveying devices, vegetation clearing, traffic control/flagging operations, coordination with sub-contractors, site cleanup/closeout (estimated <25% field time/travel within the state).
- Manage equipment and storage, organize and dispose of samples, select and interpret laboratory testing assignments (estimated <10% time).
- Adapt to changing software standards, such as upcoming migration to OpenRoads/OpenGround software, and perform varied tasks as part of a collaborative team of professionals.
Requirements:
- Preferred 2-year associates degree in a field relevant to architecture, engineering, and construction.
- Minimum completed coursework/certificates/formal training in CADD software.
- Proficiency in Microstation design is a must-have.
- Experience with NCDOT CAD work for geotechnical deliverables is a strong asset.
- CAD training/experience is essential, with a focus on geotechnical and NCDOT applications.
- Ability to lift 75 lbs and traverse uneven terrain.
- Successful completion of a drug screening and insurability on our company auto policy.
