Accentuate Staffing is currently recruiting for an AP Accountant for our client in Cary, NC. This position will be responsible for various accounting duties in the Finance Department, primarily in the Accounts Payable area. Also performs general accounting in other areas as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Accounts Payable Processing: Enters PO invoices into ERP system and performs 3-way match to ensure authenticity of invoice. Prepares and enters Non-PO invoices for entry to the ERP system. Reviews account codes, authorizations and supplier terms on entry to ensure aging and allocation are correct. Coordinates with Receiving and Purchasing personnel to resolve discrepancies and take appropriate course of action.
- Sales & Use Tax: When appropriate, calculates sales and use tax and refers to proper state tax code to ensure adherence to tax laws and application of tax breaks. Prepares monthly sales tax reports to Corporate.
- Prepares Purchasing card activity for recording in general ledger, including review of spend for proper classification and approval.
- Fixed asset accounting: Monitors open Cap Ex projects for completion and maintains records of costs incurred. Evaluates charges to projects for proper classification, using Corporate Policy. Communicates with project owners to determine when project should be closed and recorded as a Fixed Asset; maintains SOX documentation of same. Prepares fixed asset documentation to be sent to Corporate for recording in SAP, and coordinates with Cost Accountant to have assets recorded in LN.
- General Ledger and Reporting: Classifies and records entries to the General Ledger using approved accounting procedures to maintain accurate accounting records. Analyzes certain income statement accounts on a monthly basis. Assist with month-end reports as required.
Requirements:
- B.A Degree Accounting/Finance desired
- One to three years of Accounts Payable and general accounting experience.
- Proven aptitude for critical thinking.
- Experience working with an ERP System specifically SAP desired
- Intermediate EXCEL skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to speak and coordinate with individuals across multiple functions within the business segments and interface with customers.
