Accentuate Staffing is recruiting for an Accountant/Bookkeeper for our well established and growing Construction client in Clayton. This is a Direct Hire opportunity offering a dynamic work culture and a solid benefits package.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing best standard practices to manage day-to-day internal operations
- Working closely with the CFO and Business Owners
- Ensures that company financial records are maintained in compliance with company policies and federal/state guidelines. Responsible for preparing monthly/quarterly account reconciliations and other documents to ensure compliance
- Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
- Prepares journal entries for general ledger and customer accounts and all activities related to prepaid expenses
- Will become proficient and comfortable with the understanding and use of the company’s project management system
- Compares data in documents to verify accuracy
- Maintains finance and accounting records by record keeping, adjusting, reconciling, posting, computing, and/or balancing figures to ensure accurate record keeping
- Manages any third parties to which functions have been outsourced like Payroll
- Oversees, with assist from CFO, the operation of the bookkeeping and accounting functions thereby achieving the departments goals and objectives in collaboration with the Ownership
- Will be accountable for ensuring that policies and procedures (internal controls) are eventually written and put in place to provide reasonable assurance that company assets are protected
- Ensures, with preparation & review, that company financial reports are prepared in compliance with policies and directives
- Ensures that accounts payables are paid in a timely manner, that accounts receivables are collected promptly; that payroll is processed and recorded in a timely manner (inside or outside the company); that bank reconciliations are completed; that all payments are made timely
- Once a budget system is in place, will provide variance analysis that highlights significant issues to Management and Ownership on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
- Assists with additional administrative tasks
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Associate’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred
- At least 5 years demonstrated success in accounting
- QuickBooks experience required
- Experience implementing new systems a plus
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to fit into a dynamic culture
- Exceptional and intuitive communication skills, written and oral
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task
